ِ إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُواْ مَا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ
Surely Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change their own condition


As such from the time of formation of Pakistan every day the Pakistani community has to face a new crisis but since last twenty years Pakistan is a victim of complex circumstances. After looking at the situation in the last two centuries many questions rise in the mind of every Pakistani like; How did Pakistan became a victim of such crisis? Who are people responsible for this? Who all have done treachery with Pakistan? To what extent is foreign involvement in this grievous situation? What are the internal causes? What role have been played by different category of people? What is the role of rulers in this? What role has been played by the politicians in this? What have been the activities of political parties? What have been the achievements of religious group in this ? What has been done by the Secular category? What has been the role of media in development of these situations? What has been done by writers, columnists and people of pen? To what extent is the educated class responsible for this? What role has been played by bureaucracy? To what extent is army and army Generals indulged in this? What has been the achievement of religious scholars (Ulama) ? These are all important questions which wobbles the mind of every sensible Pakistani. The activities of the above mentioned categories and classes is as such so evident that we don't even need to do any research on this.


The role of Pakistani masses in the prevailing circumstances in Pakistan


In this write up we will try to find an answer to a very complex question. The question is about the role played by the Pakistani masses, the people in the difficulties experienced by Pakistan in the past and the circumstances today. This is because even though the people are worried about the daily developing crisis, they are afraid and scared but practically they have also remained unconcerned with these circumstances. In these crisis even such situations have risen up that could have drowned Pakistan along with its people. And even in these dreadful situation apart from expression of worry, fear and awe no other practical reaction was seen at the level of masses. Pakistan got divided into two parts but no clearly visible movement came forward at the level of masses. The rulers intoxicated by their lust for power kept on oppressing the people but there was no reaction witnessed in the people. The capitalists and feudal lords who by dominating the people grabbed  and destroyed the basic needs of people earned by their hard work but the Pakistani community never every carried out a significant protest against them.


Every other day elected governments were terminated due to armed forces rebellion; Martial law was imposed; the constitution of country was broken, rigging was seen in elections; the people were deprived of their basic rights; the people's government treasury was openly usurped; Justice and Jurisprudence was beheaded openly in daylight; dictators without any pain trampled the people; the country was sold to strangers; on instructions by America participation in Afghan war was done in an unwise manner; Kalashnkoff culture was promoted in peaceful nations; children were habituated with drugs; terrorists were nurtured in the name of Jihad; the fire of sectarianism was fuelled under the supervision of government; Arab and non Arab beasts were settled in Pakistan; the community was thrown on the path of terrorism for formation of crusades (Jihadi groups); Madrassa's (Religious schools) were created for training Taliban and these schools were supervised; a country like Saudi Arabia was given opportunity to spread their hatred and bloodbath ideology; support from a bloodthirsty beast like America was taken in order to preserve and extend your political power; all policies were changes on instructions from America; Qadir Khan a community Hero and one who has done a big favour on the nation was presented to the world as a criminal; the doors of Nuclear power was opened for strangers; every shameless tactic was used to make mockery of religion and ideology; by giving refuge to terrorists a justification was made for American and NATO forces; simpletons from Pakistan were made Mujahids and sent to Afghanistan; then from Afghanistan they were made terrorists settling them again in Pakistan; these beasts were given open opportunity and time to spread their roots across the nation; Pakistan's peace and security was destroyed in this name sake battle against terrorists; forces from other nations were given invitation to attack in our country; the land of Pakistan was made insecure for the people of Pakistan and the community was deprived of basic necessities by indulging them in artificial crisis and intentionally created chaos; the middle class was dragged towards poverty and the poor class has reached the stage of starvation by inflation in commodity prices; open deals were made with America just for the sake of coming into political power; prosecuted criminals were forgiven for their filthy crimes and gifted with governmental positions; Pakistani Muslims were made enemies of each other; instead of love and brotherhood seeds of discord and sectarianism were sown.


Hypocrisy is being taught in mosques instead of worship; education centres are getting perished and ruined; the market of corruption and indecency is hot; people's wealth, dignity and even life is not secure; Pakistan politically is an insecure state; economically is bankrupted; paralyzed on military front; socially destroyed and on security side it has acquired the title of being most dangerous land; communism is swallowing national unity; deprivation feeling is taking grip in provinces; the grip of Pakistani Generals, politicians and rulers is loosening day by day; the certificate of most defamed country in the world has been given to Pakistan; Pakistan has completely lost its friends and well wishers; the global and specifically western and American media is counting the days of geographical distribution and destruction of Pakistan.


But despite of all these no reaction has been seen from the Pakistani people and there seems to be no hope also in near future. People have forgotten the old wounds and are waiting for new tortures; the temperament of the community is now to wait for the worst to come; they participate full fledged in elections to elect a big usurper after a corrupt ruler; they are sitting silent by considering one destruction after another as their fortune; the satanic whispers of media has confused the community to consider these blood thirsty beasts as criminals or heroes; getting killed in suicide attacks is considered as divine destiny by the people and want to be contented with it.


Our thinking and the Law of Quran


Spending life with criminals, considering corrupt priests (Mullah's) as their leader (Imam), compromising with corrupt bureaucrats and getting played on with the Satanic politics of indecent politicians is slowly becoming a temperament of this community. It is as if the Pakistani community is certain that the state of Pakistan will never change and they and their generations have to live their lives like this only whereas the commands of Allah (s) is different. The instruction of Quran is completely against this kind of thinking. Any secure intelligence is not prepared to accept this illogic. Allah (s) says in the Holy Quran:


 إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُواْ مَا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ
surely Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change their own condition


Maulana Zafar Ali Khan has beautifully translated this heavenly and Quranic formula


خدا نے آج تک اس قوم کی حالت نہیں بدلی
نہ ہو جس کو خیال خود آپ اپنی حالت کے بدلنے کا


Allah till date has not changed the condition of that community
Who is not thinking about changing their own state


Allah (s) has mentioned the states of many communities in the Quran for the sake of guidance to Muslims which are specified with proper evidences about their rise and fall. How this law comes into practice, How communities traverse the stages of rise, how their downfall happens, how communities get dignified and how they become disgraced. The Holy Quran has specified the causes for the rise and fall of communities and also mentioned about the paths and ways for their development and annihilation.


It was never ever the intention of these verses that we should recite and send praises only; or recite them on dead bodies; develop rhythm on these, do Istikhara with these verses; or parades of interpretation sciences and skills are done on them. The purpose of revelation of such type of verses was to inform the addressee of the Quran about how their country can get settled, how peace and security can be established in it, how sustenance can become abundant in their country, how people's life and wealth is secured, how terrorism can be controlled, how inflation can be controlled, how to reach dignity and greatness, how country's defence gets strengthened, how love and affection enhances, how salvation is achieved from corrupt rulers and politicians, how to be relieved from religion trading priests (Mullah's), how to bring down Masjid-e-Zirar, how salvation is acquired from arrogant and imperialistic powers, how poverty is distanced from a nation, how knowledge and technology is acquired, how to gain strength when fighting against enemies, how to identity hypocrites, who are those who risk their lives to protect the country and its people, how to protect yourself from the deception of deceivers and how to confront the calamities of the era.


The key for all these things, steps and actions is also discussed by the Quran and the key is that everything has to be done by communities themselves and no other power can replace the community to do something. And even the creator of Universe, the Almighty and the most powerful Allah will also not change the state of any community until unless this community itself does not do an uprising. By just sitting with folded hands will not bring any change; expecting change in the state of silence does not benefit at all and in this state of silence even supplications and recitation of names of Allah are also ineffective.


According to the law of Allah (s) the work of community has to be done by them only, the duty of Ummah (nation) has to be delivered by the Ummah (nation) and the work of Allah will be done by Allah. The duty which is on the Ummah will never be done by Allah even if Allah is invoked in state of mourning, tears, distress and that too day and night.


Allah (s) has sent heavenly books for nations, Prophets and Messengers were sent and Imam's were established for them. It is in these books where through the lips of Divine messengers and divinely appointed leaders (Imam) it has been explicitly told that the work of nations has to be done by them. The duty of communities has to be delivered by communities and not by Messengers of Allah; and the responsibility of nations has to be accomplished by the nations and not by Imam.


If action is done as per the discussed divine system than results of the efforts of Prophets can be witnesses and nations can also achieve salvation by becoming privileged. But if opposite is acted upon which means if nations neglect their responsibilities and leave it to Prophets and Imams then under this situation there is no probability of any salvation.


The duties of nation (Ummah)


Allah (s) has mentioned two major responsibilities and duties of a nation (Ummah)


1. Obedience: this means to act in accordance with the instructions and commands of divine leaders and divine legislations.


2. Defence: this means to react against non divine systems, devils (Taghoot) and corruption.


Thus the nation (Ummah) has two major duties to perform; one is action and second is reaction, which means obedience and defence. Any nation that acts upon these two will get in this world dignity, prestige, growth and success, dominance and power will be in their fortune; but one who turns away from these two will become victim of disgrace, humiliation and distress.


The Holy Quran has repeatedly reminded about obedience; Obey Allah, obey his Messenger and Obey those who manage affairs.


Ameerul Momineen (a.s) declared the path of dignity as obedience. He says:


اذا طلبت العزّة فاطلبہ بالطاعة
If you are in need for dignity then get it through obedience


It is mentioned in another tradition:


انّ ربّکم یقول کل یوم انا العزیز فمن اراد عزة الدارین فیطع العزیز
Allah (s) says that I am honoured, hence those who desire honour and dignity in this world and hereafter should become obedient to this honoured essence.


As regards to Defence, the Holy Quran says:



الَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا مِن دِيَارِهِمْ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ إِلَّا أَن يَقُولُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ اللَّهِ النَّاسَ بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لَّهُدِّمَتْ صَوَامِعُ وَبِيَعٌ وَصَلَوَاتٌ وَمَسَاجِدُ يُذْكَرُ فِيهَا اسْمُ اللَّهِ كَثِيراً وَلَيَنصُرَنَّ اللَّهُ مَن يَنصُرُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَقَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ


 Those who have been expelled from their homes without a just cause except that they say: Our Lord is Allah. And had there not been Allah's repelling some people by others, certainly there would have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques in which Allah's name is much remembered; and surely Allah will help him who helps His cause; most surely Allah is Strong, Mighty. (Surah Hajj: 40)


In this verse, obedience and defence has been specified as the means for salvation. If people do not react against oppressors, tyrants, devils and occupiers then they will be expelled from their towns, settlements and countries. Their mosques, places of worships and centres of education will be ruined the way it is happening in Pakistan today.


There are various elements behind the current situation in Pakistan but from the spirit of Quran one significantly active element is that people and the masses are not delivering the role which they have to deliver. This means they are not demonstrating the required reaction against this corruption and bewilderedness. Thus the Quran considers the nation itself responsible for the crisis and also condemns them for not reacting and repelling.



وَمَا لَكُمْ لاَ تُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَاء وَالْوِلْدَانِ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هَـذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ الظَّالِمِ أَهْلُهَا وَاجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّا وَاجْعَل لَّنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ نَصِيرًا


And what reason have you that you should not fight in the way of Allah and of the weak among the men and the women and the children, (of) those who say: Our Lord! cause us to go forth from this town, whose people are oppressors, and give us from Thee a guardian and give us from Thee a helper. (Surah Nisa - 75)


The accent and the tone of this verse of Holy Quran clarifies that when innocent people are being killed then entire community should react on this, when oppressed people under the siege of tyrants are raising calls for help then everyone should help them. Under such situations if anyone remains unconcerned and becomes a spectator his character is worth condemnation.


The Message of Imam Hussain and responsibility of nations


The situation of Muslim state was almost the same as that of Pakistan today at the time of Imam Hussain (a.s). Yazid who was a transgressor, corrupt, alcoholic, adulterer, murderer and tyrant was ruling over Muslims and all the different class of people were sitting silent. Yazid crossed all divine limits and the religious scholars remained silent. He destroyed divine values and revived ignorance once again but the Muslims remained silent. He turned the religion of Prophet (s.a.w.s) into ruins but the religious beings did not even speak out. Yazid did the sacrilege of divine sanctities whereas the sacred religious beings were busy in their worships. The progeny of Messenger were exposed to various tortures whereas the followers of Messenger sat in laps of comfort.


The Doyen of Martyrs one year prior to the event of Karbala during Hajj season gathered all the famous and prominent Islamic personalities in Mina and delivered the famous sermon in which after talking about the existing governments tyranny and oppression condemned all the categories of people present in the gathering that after witnessing all this with your own eyes you are not showing any reaction. He (a.s) recited the verses of Quran in condemnation of the Jewish priests and told the attendees that the Jews were condemned because they did not distance themselves from evils, they were witnessing corruption, indecencies and crimes like assassination of Prophets in front of their eyes but did not show any form of reaction. Thus Quran declared them as accursed and made them a lesson for forthcoming nations.


The Doyen Martyrs during his sacred uprising addressed the Muslim nation in a fiery tone and said:


 الاترون الی الحق لا یعمل بہ والی الباطل لا یتناھی عنہ
Don't you see that truth is not being acted upon and evil is not repelled


As if Imam (a.s) is expressing this in astonishment that after witnessing the trampling of truth and propagation of falsehood you are not showing any form of reaction.


When communities become victim of silence and stillness then all sorts of oppression is done on them. Oppression becomes common in such communities; injustice increases; peace and security gets obliterated; the accursed shadow of poverty and starvation hovers over them; an oppressor like Yazid comes into power; the usurpers of public treasury like Bani Umayyah govern the community; self respect and dignity of women is lost; precious lives are wasted; country becomes insecure; people and religion also become insecure.


The causes for silence of communities


The most important point is how silence, stagnancy and non concernedness develops in nations? That too specifically in those communities who are burdened with mountains of oppressions on their heads and everything of theirs is getting lost and ruined in front of their eyes. Serious question about their silence rises. We are pointing briefly towards those elements and causes that are common in snatching away the ability of communities to react thereby making them paralyzed and abased. It is also significant to point towards these causes because if one day the community and its leaders desire to remove the shackles of disgrace from their necks, are ready to get salvation from being crushed by the grinding mill of oppression and want to establish peace and security in their country then it would be enough for them to pay attention towards these causes and try to eliminate them in order to become capable to show some effective reactions.


The causes for silence are:


1. Fear and Awe


Fear and awe is that effective cause by which the most active communities can also be forced into silence and stagnancy. The experimented formula of dictators and imperialists for subjugating nations is fear and awe. A scared community is worst than a dead corpse because a corpse after death is of no use, no benefits can be derived from it, no one can ride on its back whereas a scared person becomes a slave in the hands of dreadful powers.


The country, treasury, dignity, chastity, peace and security of a scared community can be easily usurped in fact scared people present all their wares by their own hands to dacoits, they are ready to accept every command with their heads bowed down, they dance like road show monkeys and circus animals on instruction of others, they forget their natural demands and not even make sound from their tongues.


The enemies and looters of Pakistani community have taken full advantage from the element of fear and were successful also. In order make the Pakistani community victim of fear and awe; Generals imposed Martial laws, rulers snatched their rights, feudal lords raped the dignity, bureaucrats disassociated whereas the priests (Mullahs) gave birth to terrorists and cruel murderers. In these actions abundant help was taken from foreign powers amongst which Saudi wealth and Jewish conspiracy played a significant role.


There are no hopes or expectations of any form of reaction from scared communities. Fear trembles the most courageous ones, it melts the heart of warriors and stops the heat beats. Those who doubt can see scared monkeys imitating, scared bears dancing and lions, leopards, elephants doing acrobatics in circus camps on instructions of man. One ordinary reaction by this circus elephant can trample the trainers, ringmasters and the audience under its feet but it is this fear which has made this big powerful elephant weaker than a mouse and is now doing things worst than a mouse. The way after looking at the acts of circus animals the children and elders clap, become happy and enjoy similarly today after looking at the esteemed but scared Pakistani community in fields of election for the sake of bellies and other fields; the other communities are also clapping and getting entertained.


2. Feeling of humiliation


Another effective element in stagnancy of communities is the feeling of being humiliated. It implies when communal zeal, national sobriety and religious confidence is snatched away from a community, it is disgraced and humiliated, it is considered as ineligible and incapable then gradually it develops this feeling of humiliation. It starts to consider itself lowly, abased, weak and humiliated.


As it is seen that there is a big majority of people in a nation who are victim of this lowliness and despite of being in majority are not counted anywhere and are always dominated by a powerful minority. This category is deprived from their basic rights as well and are obedient and humble in front of feudal lords. They are meted with treatment worst than animals but they never show any form of reaction against oppression and cruelty, they never demand for their usurped rights, they never ask for any compensation for blood of their near ones, they don't feel the atrocity of being treated as animals despite of being human, despite of being in thousands and millions they never express their existence in front of handful of capitalists and feuds. The reason behind this is that abased creations consider demanding their rights, complaining and expressing their presence in front of others as a crime and sin.


According to Faiz Ahmed Faiz if this kicked out creation starts to react than they can chew the bones of these lords and can dominate the entire world, they can blow the air out of the heads of imperialists.


Faiz writes in one of his poem titled as "Dog"


یہ گلیوں کے آوارہ بیکار کتے
کہ بخشا گیا جن کوذوق ِگدائی


These wandering, useless street dogs
who have been gifted with the taste of begging


زمانے کی پھٹکار سرمایہ ان کا
جہاں بھر کی دھتکار ان کی کمائی


Being cursed by the world is their asset
Their earning is kicks of entire world

نا آرام شب کو، نہ راحت سویرے
غلاظت میں گھر، نالیوں میں بسیرے


No peace at night, no comfort during day
house in filth, settled in gutters

جو بگڑیں تو ایک دوسرے سے لڑا دو
ذرا ایک روٹی کا ٹکڑا دکھا دو


If concerned, make them fight with each other
Just show them a piece of bread

یہ ہر ایک کی ٹھوکر یں کھانے والے
یہ فاقوں سے اکتا کے مرجانے والے


they are ready to be kicked by everyone
prepared to die after being tired of starvation

یہ مظلوم مخلوق گر سر اٹھائے
تو انسان سب سرکشی بھول جائے


If this oppressed creation would have raised their heads
Men would have lost their devilish attitude towards them

یہ چاہیں تو دنیا کو اپنا بنالیں
یہ آقائوں کی ہڈیاں تک چبالیں


If they desire they can rule the world
they can chew the bones of their masters

کوئی ان کو احساس ذلت دلا دے

کوئی ان کی سوئی ہوئی دم ہلا دے


Let someone make them realize their disgrace
Let someone shake their sleeping tail


The Pakistan community was severely disgraced by everyone coming into power and position. As a consequence this community has ascertained that confronting the circumstances is not within their abilities. Abasing the community is part of Army Generals trainings; in the eyes of narrow minded priests (Mullah) this community is exited from religion, impure and destined for hell, Allah is annoyed with them and it is better they perish, the disciples of these prejudicial hermits have established humiliation in their hearts as faith.


Whatever was left in disgracing this nation by politicians, Generals, feuds and priests (Mullah's) was fulfilled by English, Arabs and Americans.


The Holy Quran while mentioning the Pharoaic tactics used by Pharaoh also mentions that Pharaoh highly disgraced Bani Israel. When Allah (s) sent a Leader like Prophet Moosa for the salvation of this community and Prophet Moosa attempted to arouse this disgraced community against Pharaoh and other oppressors he had to face extreme grief and despair.  Bani Israel replied to Moosa when he emphasized on this as; O Moosa!


فَاذْهَبْ أَنتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلا إِنَّا هَاهُنَا قَاعِدُونَ
O Moosa! if you desire to fight then let you and your lord together fight them, we cannot move and we will sit here


Worshipping a calf was another disgraceful act by an abased community because a community indulged in humiliation gets easily trapped in the tricks of Saamri and street jugglers but they cannot understand a dignified leader like Moosa.


Bani Umayyah in a generic way and Yazid specifically adopted the same Pharaoic tactic. Yazid and his father abased the Muslims to an extent that they ascertained that they are lowly and disgraced in front of Bani Umayyah and due to this they were not prepared to show any reaction against Bani Umayyah. The dignified Imam, Doyen of Martyrs and Imam Hasan (a.s) tried to arouse them a lot to react but they were not ready to support the Imams. Allama Iqbal made tireless attempts to replace this humiliation with prestige and realization of dignity amongst the Muslims of Indian subcontinent but was not successful.


3. Inferiority Complex


Another reason for not reacting against oppression, tyranny, trampling of rights, insults and disgrace is Inferiority complex. It means development of such a state in an individual, group, community or society which makes them consider as inferior, non statured and useless. Inferiority complex means distancing from your own self, distancing from your own reality, from your past and not being acquainted with your own good qualities. Any society or community inflicted by this disease ends up forgetting everything they own. They have no purpose left, no identity or personality left in them and there is no evident way in front of them.


Self Confidence and Self Realization is something against Inferiority complex. Self Confidence is also the name of a state that develops in an individual, group, community and society due to which they get attentive towards their status and significance making others accept their existence at any cost. They have the fundamental asset of Self Confidence for entering any field of struggle. A community enriched with the wealth of Self confidence is active, also reacts and defends itself. It considers dignity and greatness as its firm rights also considering education and growth as its general rights.


On the other hand a community with inferiority complex is not prepared to enter in any field. The analogy of a community with inferiority complex is like that of a wrestler who is well built, fat and broad. But when he faces an opponent he starts to shiver out of fear by just looking at his opponent. He looses himself , he starts to shiver in fear, his legs tremble  and he falls down without being touched by anyone.


One of the signs of such communities is that they immediately adopt the culture and civilization of other communities. They consider everything of theirs as the basis of shame. They consider speaking in their language as shameful whereas feel proud in speaking the language of other community. They consider their past as disgraceful whereas establishing connection with others as something prestigious. A community with inferiority complex is away from its roots and true identity. They are frustrated with their religion and constitution and is unaware about its own knowledge and intelligence. It takes support from false and fraudulent ways to fill the gap felt inside their own self.


At present the Pakistani community is a victim of grievous inferiority complex. This feeling is dripping out from the existence of every class and category of people. The newspapers are published in English, news are broadcasted in English, the inferiority complex rulers address the community in English and they are those leaders for whom even speaking Urdu is difficult, the formal language used in offices is English and the situation has come to a stage whereby if English is not used in routine conversations it is considered as a sign of lowliness.


In the entire world including Britain English is just a language whereas in Pakistan it is considered as education. One who has studied in English is considered as most intelligent and degrees acquired in English are the mother of all degrees. It is not that only the secular class is a victim of this inferiority complex but even the religious class is also severely indulged in this. It is just like the religious scholars who consider Arabic not just a language but even greater than knowledge as religion.


Allama Iqbal very smartly identified this disease in his nation and explicitly presented its diagnosis and this physician of the nation dedicated his entire life for this but the disease kept on enhancing with the medicines. And after seventy years of Allama's demise this disease has spread to the extent that it has destroyed the entire nation. For the treatment of this disease he did everything possible; he wrote poems, odes, elegies, delivered sermons, invocations, requests, shed tears by being awakened all night, raised pleas and sighs, traversed the valleys of knowledge and mysticism, by diving in the ocean of philosophy found the formulas of self hood and pure religion for the salvation of his nation, narrated these formulas in an enchanting tone and words written with the blood of his heart; but all the efforts of this physician got wasted and today this patient has completely lost his self confidence  and by becoming inferior in self, in intelligence, in nation, in front of world and religion is pleading and mourning for security.


This patient of the physician of the nation is beaten with shoes everyday, trampled under army shoes everyday, hung on rope, shackled in chain, blasted with bombs, soaked in blood by suicide attacks, dragged openly in the market and is made to dance nude. But due to inferiority complex he has become so lowly that forget about reaction he has accepted to remain silent even on pleading and mourning's.


It is the same situation that took place in 61 A.H when the Muslim nation due to weakness, lethargy and inferiority complex did not reacted to any of the evil and filthy actions of Bani Umayyah and Yazid.


4. Confusion


One of the states getting on communities is that of Astonishment and Confusion. Confusion is fundamentally a state of mind due to which everything inside the mind gets disturbed. Clearly evident issues get entangled inside the mind to an extent that the mind looses the power to fix them. Those things which are very simple for ordinary minds becomes very complicated for the minds of victims of confusion. Any persons mind becoming a victim of this disease becomes deficient in mental activities. His level of understanding degrades, the power of preserving information weakens, he cannot analyze issues, his decision making power is lost, his will power weakens due to which conviction and determination becomes impossible for him.


If we look around ourselves we can find many affected by this disease and if we closely look inside our own affairs we will find ourselves also in this disease.


There are many things effective in the development of this confused state like lack of knowledge, suspicions, negative assumptions, lack of certainty and no trust etc. There are many psychological methods available for its treatment reverting towards them can give salvation from this disease.


This disease becomes more dangerous when it turns into a plague attacking the entire community. And more dreadful danger comes forward when a society is intentionally indulged into this disease. When a community gets completely diseased with this plague then along with other damaging effects one big loss that happens is that the community and society is not able to show any form of reaction.


At present in Pakistan astonishment and confusion, bewilderedness and troubles, mental distress and complications are on its peak. It won't be an exaggeration to say that Pakistani community at present is completely a victim of confusion. Though in this ground the Pakistani community is not alone but instead Iraqi , Arab and many other nations are also a company to the same disease.


Confusion has been included in the Pakistani education system as part of the syllabus. The present generation has been placed into this confusion by raising a question as to Why Pakistan was created? The political deficiencies have further enhanced this. The maximum and most significant role played in this is by the religious category of people. Illiterate scholars have created confusion in every segment of religion. Beliefs, rites, Quran, Ahlulbayt, companions and everything which is related to religion closely or far off has been entangled and instilled with confusion. This implies that in religious matters the mind of community has been entangled.


Media has played the most effective role in this field and is ongoing. The function of media is to make people aware about the incidents and reality but this is the work which media is not doing. Media instead of keeping people aware is creating confusion as its routine chore. In the light of Quran the picture of media that comes in the mind is that of "Khannas" (whispering devil). The Holy Quran by addressing the Holy Prophet (s) delivered a message to the nations that they should seek refuge from the evils of "Khannas" (whispering devils). "Khannas" is the one who creates doubts in the hearts of people, creates ambiguities in the certainty of people, weakens the faith, make religion untrustworthy and distances them from Allah. This "Khannas" of modern technology is worst than those "Khannas" in the era of advent of Islam.


When community is not having any other means apart from "Khannas" (media) to get information about situations , when scholars and common man both have their ears on media only, they learn politics from it, they take religion from it, they except the analysis of events from media then they should not expect anything other than confusion.


For the sake of making people victim of confusion name sake analysts, scholars and religious scholars are brought over to discuss straight forward issues. The analysts transfer their mental confusion in the minds of people and the community after listening to these drowns into the darkness of astonishment and confusion.


This aspect should be specifically kept in mind that the reigns of this "Khannas" (Media) is in the hands of Capitalist system, the accursed arrogant shadow is also present over it. Thus the big traps of media at national and international levels have not come into existence for the sake of guidance of people instead they have come into existence to indulge international community in various forms of corruption and along with this dominating them by making them victims of confusion; and for looting their wealth, assets and capturing their lands. It is simple mindedness and in fact foolishness that Muslims and specifically Pakistani community considers Media as their well wisher.


The shadow of "Khannas" on Iranian Society


The Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatullah Syed Ali Khamenei (d.a) has given the title of Cultural NATO to media. At present the Iranian society is the target of its aggression. Imam Khomeini (r.a) had demonstrated to the Iranian nation a very clear, straight and clean path on the basis of which the Islamic Revolution came into existence, Islamic government came into existence and Islamic system was established. But the enemies of revolution and Islam made every form of attack on this revolution; they waged an armed war through Saddam; made terrorist attacks through Hypocrites; fuelled the fire of sectarianism through ignorant religious beings; created communal dissension though prejudicial tribes; imposed political and economical sanctions; they drew several plans to increase international pressure but could not gain success. But with all these attacks the Islamic revolution gained more strength but at the end the big Satan turned towards the conspiracy about which Allah (s) warned and asked to seek refuge from the whispering Satan, the "Khannas". In order to create confusion regarding Islamic revolution there are dozen's of TV channels, Radio Channels, several newspapers, magazines and thousands of websites that are busy day and night with millions of dollars spent on them.


This has been named by the Supreme Leader as a Cultural NATO and has warned the Iranians to be alert about this "Fitna". The effects of the delusion created by this Modern "Khannas" or Cultural NATO are very well seen today; one glimpse of which was witnessed by the world after the tenth Presidential election. Those who are well versed with Iranian affairs know to what extent and severity confusion is being created in the minds of Iranian people regarding Revolution, Scholars, Marjai'yat, Wilayat-e-Faqeeh, Islamic System, Leader and even religion and Quran. Every possible tactic is being experimented for this purpose. Religious scholars, intellectuals and enlightened individuals are being used for this purpose. Even though they did not achieve any considerable success in the Iranian environment but the danger bells have rung. It is the good fortune of Iranian community that a capable leadership is present to save them from the whispers of "Khannas" and the aggression of this cultural NATO. But the issue with other Muslim nations is that this aggression is one sided and there is no one present to obliterate this confusion.


Astonishment and Confusion takes away movement and actions from communities. It takes away their ability to act and react. The state of confused communities is like a flock of animals who are left in a dessert surrounded by wolves with no caretaker. It has grazing fields around them but there is no way to reach those fields to graze. Dark clouds are hovering over them in dark night and this flock is not having any ability to even run.


The Holy Quran has presented the example of confusion inflicted individual in the beginning of Surah Baqarah as:


مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي اسْتَوْقَدَ نَاراً فَلَمَّا أَضَاءتْ مَا حَوْلَهُ ذَهَبَ اللّهُ بِنُورِهِمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ لاَّ يُبْصِرُونَ
صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ فَهُمْ لاَ يَرْجِعُونَ
أَوْ كَصَيِّبٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاء فِيهِ ظُلُمَاتٌ وَرَعْدٌ وَبَرْقٌ يَجْعَلُونَ أَصْابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِم مِّنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ واللّهُ مُحِيطٌ بِالْكافِرِين
يَكَادُ الْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ كُلَّمَا أَضَاء لَهُم مَّشَوْاْ فِيهِ وَإِذَا أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَامُواْ وَلَوْ شَاء اللّهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَارِهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّه عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ


Their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness-- they do not see.
Deaf, dumb (and) blind, so they will not turn back.
Or like abundant rain from the cloud in which is utter darkness and thunder and lightning; they put their fingers into their ears because of the thunder peal, for fear of death, and Allah encompasses the unbelievers.
The lightning almost takes away their sight; whenever it shines on them they walk in it, and when it becomes dark to them they stand still; and if Allah had pleased He would certainly have taken away their hearing and their sight; surely Allah has power over all things.
Surah Baqarah - 17-20


At the time of the uprising of the Doyen of Martyrs the Muslim nation was a victim of similar confusion. Bani Umayyah had intentionally promoted confusion in the Ummah and even to the extent that they entangled their world and religion; they could not distinguish righteous leaders, it was difficult for them to differentiate between Islam and ignorance, they were not able to understand who amongst the progeny of Prophet (s) and progeny of Abu Sufyan is on the right path, confusion was being created from the pulpits in the name of religion and specifically after the assassination of third Caliph this activity picked up speed. The "Khawarij" got birth from this confusion created by Bani Umayyah and they got indulged into arguments about who amongst Ali (a) and Muawiyah is on the right path. Imam Hasan (a.s) handed over the political power to Muawiyah due to this confusion present inside the Ummah and it was due to this confusion that Caliphate transferred into Kingship and a cancer like Yazid became the head of Muslim Ummah. Imam Hussain (a.s) started his uprising from the Holy Kaaba but the confused Ummah kept on circumambulating around the Kaaba. The progeny of Prophet (s) was martyred in the state of hunger and thirst, their women were brought into markets and courtyards but the confused Ummah could not understand all this, they could not take a decision and did not demonstrate any reaction.


The grandson of Prophet (s) and his loyal companions were martyred in Karbala with their bodies stampeded and heads separated from body. This implies whenever the followers of truth are beheaded there is a big involvement of confusion present in Ummah.


A confused Ummah irrespective of whether they do worships or employment, supplicate or invoke, bend and prostrate, do Hajj or Umrah, cry or plead, beat their chests and foreheads, celebrate or do Eid they will not get salvation from Yazidiat till the time they don't come out of astonishment and confusion and show some reaction.


5. The lack of leadership


Gathering separated people making then an Ummah, getting an Ummah into movement, taking the movement towards results, making the Ummah united against enemies and arousing the Ummah to react in situations of crisis are all at the mercy of leadership. A community that gets in its fortune an aware, longsighted, brave, just and sincere leadership is victorious in the world and dignified in presence of Allah.


This is the reason that Allah (s) for the sake of human beings guidance has made maximum arrangements in regards to leadership, guide and Imamat. He selected the purest and most virtuous personalities for the leadership (Imam) of men. Though in their selection family, generation, wealth, fame, colour was not involved but instead he made them go through tests, examined them in tribulation, tested them in various fields, tested their sincerity and gauged their perseverance and vision after which He said:


َ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا  
...Surely I will make you an Imam of men..
Surah Baqarah- 124


It is these divine leaders who have given salvation to Ummah from Nimrod's, Pharaoh's and Shadad's but at times Saamri's, Baalam, monks and priests have made Ummah's victim of confusion. A Ummah without deep vision, without sense and without any conviction leaves the path of Ibrahim and Moosa after being mislead by Saamri's. A leader like Ali being present within an Ummah but still the Ummah remains deprived of leadership and then wanders around beating their heads everywhere in the valley of confusion but they don't see the hope of salvation anywhere; and everyday they enter into further lowliness and disgrace.


If a true leader is present but still the Ummah distances from him due to the whispers of "Khannas" or if they are unfortunate to have leadership at all then under such situation the Ummah remains astonished and confused. And this situation becomes a big issue turning into chaos when the enemy of this community is strong, awake, united and absolutely merciless.


In reality we cannot give the title of "Ummah" to a collection of human being without a leader instead they resemble a flock of sheep. An Ummah is formed by its elements and its most significant element is leadership and guide (Rahbar).


Every community does not gets a capable leader. And just like the leader the communities also have to pass through tests and tribulation proving that they are capable to get a leader. A leader is not dropped from the sky in communities instead they are born from within the land of the social civilization of community. In other words community themselves give birth to their leaders and then after certification and help from Allah they follow him.


The task of leader is to  make an Ummah a true Ummah, get them into action and movement thereby making them reach their goal. Thus the actual journey has to be done by the Ummah themselves after being given direction by the leader. If community decides that their duties also should be delivered by the leader then movements do not happen despite of a leader being present; in fact such communities become a burden on the shoulders of the leader and choke his throat. The divine leaders have supplicated for separation from such communities. Prophet Moosa (a.s) has supplicated to Allah (s):


قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لا أَمْلِكُ إِلاَّ نَفْسِي وَأَخِي فَافْرُقْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ
He said: My Lord! Surely I have no control (upon any) but my own self and my brother; therefore make a separation between us and the nation of transgressors. Surah Maida - 25


The same supplication has been made by Ameerul Momineen (a.s) in Nahjul Balagha Sermon no 25. He says; O Allah! take them away from me.


At times due to the severity of calamities and difficulties present within a community the feeling for the need of leader gets developed but in reality they do not need leadership instead what they need are agents and brokers who can solve their court cases. They give the title of leader to brokers and agents; and then start demanding leader.


The Holy Quran has presented a detailed example of this in verses 246 to 259 in Surah Baqarah


While discussing the matter of Bani Israel and Taloot, the Quran says:


Have you seen the elites (priests) of Bani Israel who after Moosa due to the severity of circumstances came to their Prophet and demanded that he should appoint a leader for them to fight in the way of Allah (s). The Prophet stopped them and made them realize to leave this thought because it is possible that a leader might get appointed for you and the war starts; then you will look for a corner to escape. The community of Bani Israel got annoyed and said that how is it possible that we get a leader and we do not fight in the way of Allah (s) that too when we are expelled from our homes, we have been separated from our children, our lands have been aggressed and the situations have worsened.


On their emphasis Allah (s) appointed Taloot as their leader. The moment these elites heard the name of Taloot they got annoyed and said instead of Taloot there should be a leader from amongst the elite class. They said Taloot is young and is not having wealth and assets. Allah (s) replied that you don't need a white beard and latest model car to become a leader but what you need is courage and deep vision which is present to the highest grade in Taloot as compared to anyone else. They undesirably remained quite and majority denied the leadership of Taloot and Taloot marched towards the enemies with the remaining minority. This minority also kept on leaving Taloot on the way by making different excuses and finally this divine leader confronted the enemies with just a handful of supporters.


There is a clear difference between a leader and a broker and an agent. A leader for the sake of country, community and religion gets people out of their homes into battlefield, he arouses nations (Ummah's) to protest and confront the enemies, he makes some martyred and some captives, he makes women widow and children orphans but does not permits anyone to look at the nation and religion with dirty looks. He does not submits to any Yazid and does not allows any community to become a slave of courtyards and governments. He prefers to starve along with his Ummah in Shaib-e-Abu Talib but does not begs for donations on the doors of capitalists whereas an agent by taking advantage from the calamities suffered by community makes his own personality, earns bread for his children, he collects from the community and also from government, he unites with Police and sends the youths of community in prisons and then by uniting with Judiciary releases them thereby showing off a big favour done on community. A society in which the community is not awakened and starts to demand for leadership then many come forward wearing the attire of leadership who divide the community in groups and classes and play games of leadership.


A true leader first gets the community out of visionary confusion, gifts them sense (Sha'oor), defends the ideology and acts ahead of the caravan; does not stops himself and neither allows the community to stop; neither he himself gets tired and neither does he allows the followers to become tired instead raises the courage of Ummah thereby making the enemies fatigued and when the time comes sacrifices everything he possesses on this path.


The tragedy with Pakistani community is that after Allama Iqbal and Qaid-e-Azam (Jinnah) they were not fortunate to see the face of leadership. Anyone who came with the attire of leadership turned out to be a highway dacoit. We wish if they were only highway dacoits who would have robbed the assets of community but in the attire of leadership such agents and brokers came who sold the community, sold the country and even sold the religion. And this same looted community is once again waiting for another agent to come in the name of leadership.


In last sixty years on the horizon of Pakistan; Agents (in the name of leader) without any personality, character, conviction, conscience and vision kept on coming one after another and kept on ruining the garden of Iqbal. These political dwarfs kept on becoming leaders on the back of innocent community and this simple community did not even realize that these are not even agents but traders.


The same situation prevails in the world of religion. The map of religion which these world seeking, non visionary, prejudicial and position loving priests (Mullahs) have presented in the attire or religious leadership has forced the people to give preference to non religiousness over religion thereby preferring to remain secular rather than being religious. The lust for governorship in the name of religion is not termed as leadership. The simple minded and religion loving people of Pakistan looks at everyone who comes forward as a leader and when his turban falls over the people once again come out in pursuit of another leader.


According to Mirza Galib:


چلتا ہوں تھوڑی دور ہر ایک تیز رو کے ساتھ
پہچانتا نہیں ہوں ابھی رہبر کو میں


I walk some distance with every fast mover
I do not recognize the leader yet

چکرایاایسا مجھ کو رہبر نمائوں نے
ہر ایک سے پوچھتا ہوں کہ جائوں کدھر کو میں


Those resembling leaders have wobbled me such that
I am asking everyone which way should I go?


The lack of leadership paralysis a community. Community becomes helpless and non supportive despite of having strength, means and possibilities. They start begging for peace from tyrants, they start demanding blood money from the murderers, they appeal for mercy from merciless, they expect favours from enemies, they mourn on their oppressed state day and night and the fire of their difficulties further flames with their tears similar to the tears seen from Meat Kebabs flaming the fire in the charcoal on which they are grilled.


At present the Islamic world and specifically Shiite have a global leadership present but still the Muslim nations and Shia groups instead of following this leadership are looking for alternatives and are concerned about leadership.


It is just like during the era of Doyen of Martyrs when leadership and Imamat was present but still the Muslim community were occupied with tribal, religion, public and various position based leaderships. Similar to the era of ignorance every tribe has selected their own leaders who have kept the tribes entangled in internal enmity and fury. The Kufi's identified the true leader but lost the courage to support him. An unprepared community if drenched with the bounty of leadership still leaves the leadership isolated in Karbala in state of thirst and hunger, they become spectators and when the time passes they shed tears of spectators.


6. Comfort loving


One more element in demobilising communities is admiring comfort. Comfort and luxury is a demand of man's nature whereas dignity, prestige, growth and development pass through the valleys of hardships and pains. The history of communities carries lessonful examples in its laps. Many societies have perished as a consequence of their love for comfort and luxuries. They were disgraced, ashamed and wiped out of existence.


This is being counted as the biggest cause in the downfall of Muslims and every possessor of vision agrees than when Muslims were facing hardships, were used to difficulties, were unconcerned about heat and cold, were away from lavish bounties, were cornered from lavish living and entertainment, were non desirous of comfort and sweet dreams; their star of greatness did not set; across the world their currency was running and their strength, powers was so high that no one even dared to look with an evil eye on them.


From the time taxes started to flow in from conquered lands they started to build places and fortresses, they made properties, they gave preference to in house comfort over Crusades (Jihad), they left worships and slept, they left toiling and found luxuries, they started to make excuses of winter and summer, colourful dining mats were getting decorated, left swords and spears becoming captives of gems and pearls and by leaving patience, perseverance they took refuge in the laps of comfort and pleasure. This was the time they started to become victims of downfall and lowliness; and these crown bearers of world are today subjugated by West and America.


In the race for comfort the Arabs have left all Muslims behind and by imitating them other Muslims nations have also become their followers. At present there is no one wealthier than Arab nations across the world but still such a big population does not show any reaction against handful of Zionists. They lost their first Qiblah, Arab land was occupied in front of their eyes, the Palestinian Muslim nation was made homeless in front of them but no action was taken by these Arabs. But when they were less intoxicated by Alcohol and the lustful women surrounding them were less they attacked Israel six times but every time their comfort loving forces handed over some area of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria to Zionists. And now when Japan, Germany, Europe, America, China and Taiwan are tired by making goods of comfort for Arabs these Arabs don't even have the stamina to even call for conferences and get their resolutions approved against Zionists.


The Pakistani community is very impressed with Arabs and specifically the Royal family of Saudi has become its ideal. Even if they have not learnt anything from Arabs but at least they have learnt love for comfort. The young generation is not prepared to live in Pakistan for a single day. And in pursuit of comfort and luxuries they are standing in Ques in front of Western embassies as if they are standing as captives in front of enemies. They are prepared to do every lowly and disgraceful work in Europe and America just for the sake of comfort. They are prepared to suffer every form of humiliation so that by wearing bright clothes in clean cities they can remind themselves that they are living in utmost comfort and peace.


Imam Khomeini (r.a) says that it is the desire for comfort and luxury that has made the Muslim Ummah and specifically the scholars of Islam reach this stage. The reason behind this slavery is that they want comfort and luxurious living at any cost whereas the natural law is that the span of comfortable life is very short; it is only of few mornings. Hardworking, toiling communities very soon get dominance over the assets and wealth of comfort loving nations and takes away their lands from them, they kick them out of their own country and capture their wealth making them slaves. The comfort loving communities even after witnessing the loss of everything still sit comfortably and do not react for their own defence and protection. This is because to show reaction you have to leave aside comfort, peace and luxuries which is out of their reach. Today Pakistan is burning in fire but no form of reaction is seen at a national level because the rulers are as such comfort loving, the army Generals also consider comfort as their rights then why should the people be deprived of this bounty. If the country is burning let it burn, if community is dying let it die, whatever is happening let it happen but our peace and comfort should not be destroyed.


The Doyen of Martyrs invited the Muslim nation towards uprising when Yazid came into power but the nation dreaming in the laps of comfort and luxuries disliked this invitation.


They started to tell the Doyen of Martyrs that Haram (Holy Kaaba) is a place of peace hence he should not discuss political affairs there and some even went to the extent of giving suggestions to Him (a.s) that he should compromise with Yazid and live comfortably in Medina. And if this cannot be done then forget Yazid and leave in Mecca. And if this is not possible then go to Yemen and if that is also not possible then find some cave in desserts taking refuge there. Some said that if you are going then at least do not take your clan. Some suggested that they can make a negotiation deal between Him (a.s) and Bani Umayyah. And some big personalities even said that this uprising of his will take away the comfort of entire nation. Imam (a.s) after listening to all this said:  افّ لھٰذالکلام ; Woe on these words and suggestions of yours. You are showing me the path of humiliation. I have not left my home for acquiring comfort instead I have come out to destroy the comfort of Yazid and to awaken the nation (Ummah) from their comfortable slumber.


Karbala was an action on the commands of Allah against Yazid and was also a reaction against forthcoming Yazidiat's till Qayamah. The Doyen of Martyrs taught the nations (Ummah) the style of living and gave the Ummah the manifesto of awakening, movement, action and reaction.


Mohurrum is not the month of gaining rewards it is the month of revolution. It is not the month of just mourning but sowing something. Mohurrum is not carrying a few rituals inside it but also carries spirituals, it has covenants and pledges in it. Mohurrum is not just having sweet tones of orators, elegy reciters, speakers in it but it also carries the roaring call of ھل من ناصر ینصرنا (Is there anyone to support me). It is not just praising on the taunting points of orators but also carries a Labbaik (I have come) on the call of Hussain.


We don't need the elegy of farewell on the day of Ashura we need the ode of Labbaik (I have come) on this day. Ashura is not the end of mourning it is the beginning of becoming an Ummah. Do not be contented by just reciting Ziarat (testimonials) after Ashura but in fact we have to continue this path and awaken the people in the Kufa and Damascus of today; we have to end the confusion of the Ummah, we have to eradicate fear from their heart, we have to terminate the feeling of lowliness from the community, we have to annihilate its inferiority complex and develop self confidence in them. In the Islamic of world today and specifically every city of Pakistan which has become a picture of Kufa and Damascus we have to deliver the sermon of Lady Zainab (s), we have to arouse spectators and senseless beings to show reaction so that the shadow of Yazidiat on Pakistan can be destroyed, the fire of oppression subsides and the era of slavery comes to an end.
